John E. Doctor

John Doctor was born in Hammond, IN to Theresa and Gerald Doctor. John is the third of five children. He and his family lived in Schererville, a small town in northwest Indiana. John attended eight years of Catholic school before attending Lake Central High School.

While in high school, John served as Class President and Student Government Association President. He was a three sport athlete and was a three time letter winner. John received All-Conference and All-State honors for football. He signed a four year scholarship with Butler University in Indianapolis, IN.

While attending Butler, John was elected to the Student Judicial Court. He was honored by the Student Government Association as Outstanding Student his senior year. John also earned All-Conference and All-American Honors as a four year letter winner.

John married Carol, his high-school sweetheart of seven years, after college graduation. They have three children, Nicole, Monica and Stephen. Carol is an elementary school teacher. Their two daughters attend the University of Florida, and their son is a senior at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, FL.

John has worked in the cable industry for twenty-three years. Early in his career, he began his involvement in community service. At age 25, John was promoted to General Manager for Time Warner Cable in St. Louis. There he served as a Rotarian. Three years later he began his involvement with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

John and his family moved to Florida in 1993. John is the Vice-President and General Manager for Bright House Networks. His community involvement includes: Past President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties; Past President of Crimestoppers of Northeast Florida, Inc.; and Board member for United Way of Volusia/Flagler, Junior Achievement, Homeless Coalition, Star Center, Florida International Festival, YMCA Corporate Board, Daytona Beach Police Foundation, and Halifax Hospital Foundation.

John credits his civic mindedness to his father, who was involved in local politics and a volunteer fireman for over 20 years.
